Apparel Designer / Industrial Designer

We currently have an opening on our product development team for a highly creative full-time Apparel Designer/ Industrial Designer. This person will be responsible for designing a variety of scuba diving and paddling products for the domestic and overseas markets under the Aqua Lung and Stohlquist brands. Emphasis will be on technical dry wear and layering garment design. Diving certification and participation in paddling is a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in product brainstorm sessions

  • Conceptualize & design patterns for soft goods (dry wear & layering garments)

  • Develop attractive graphics for product application

  • Create detailed specification packages for new product designs, designating materials & construction methods

  • Clearly communicate new product requirements to Aqua Lung factories and overseas manufacturers

  • Work on multiple design projects through all stages of the development process

  • Review and evaluate product samples

  • Work within manufacturing and cost requirements

  • Attend trade shows and stay up to date on current trends in the dive & sporting goods industry


  • Self-starter, motivated and proactive

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organization skills, capable of managing multiple projects

  • Ability to manage time and deliver projects/assignments on schedule

  • Positive team worker

  • Ability to accept constructive input as it relates to design objectives

  • Highly detail oriented

  • Experience using pattern making software important

Education and/or Experience:

  • BA/BS in Apparel/Fashion Design or Industrial Design

  • 3-5 years of experience

  • Experience with 2D pattern making software application (garment experience preferred)

  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator & Adobe Photoshop (Familiarity with InDesign a plus)

  • Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
