Aqua Lung’s Pearl Series - Goes Pink

ACS logoAqua Lung began making cash donations to the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer back in 2009.  These donations have been based upon the success of the Pearl and Pearl i3 BCD sales.

“The response from our customers to support the American Cancer Society exceeded our expectations and donation goals,” said Olivier Laguette, director of marketing for Aqua Lung. “We are proud to assist such a worthy cause and would like to thank everyone who helped Aqua Lung contribute to the fight against breast cancer.”

Cancer walk 2011This year Aqua Lung will be presenting another check bringing the total donations to the American Cancer Society over the last four years to over $23,000.

ACS is the nation's largest source of private, nonprofit cancer research funds and has been the most trusted resource for cancer information for nearly a century. Breast cancer, a cause that has affected our employees and their families and friends, is the most common cancer among women, other than skin cancer, and the second leading cause of cancer death in women. However, partly as a result of early detection and improved treatment options from breast cancer research, the death rates from the disease are decreasing. Cancer walk sponsor sign

“The American Cancer Society greatly appreciates Aqua Lung's generous donation,” said Jennifer Berg, director, corporate relations for ACS. “Every dollar Aqua Lung has donated helps us toward our goal of eliminating breast cancer as a major health concern”

The donations will be used to fund research, treatment and education programs to fight and cure breast cancer – the most common cancer among women, other than skin cancer, and the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer. The chance of a women having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is about 1 in 8.

Aqua Lung’s Pearl Series - Goes Pink

There is hope. Right now there are slightly over 2 million women living in the United States who have been treated for breast cancer and the death rates from the disease are going down. The decline is partly the result of finding the cancer earlier and improved treatment options from breast cancer research.*

Aqua Lung America’s Pearls For The Girls employee fund raising team walks in the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk each October and contributes additional funds to the ACS each year.
